The reconstructed Roman legionary fort at Saalburg, north of Frankurt, war risen at the beginning of the XX Century by the Kaiser Wilhem II, in an area were he used to spend his childhood.
Even the reconstruction is not very scientifical, it is worth seeing, as it will give a general impression of how the Roman forts at the frontier used to look like.
In one of the buildings, there is collection of items found at the fort, making for a nice small museum. Then, at the center of the fort, one of the pavilions holds a reconstructed shrine for the "insignia" of the Legion.
Besides this massive scale reconstruction, small remains of the original fort maybe seen here and there.
