Following @ROMANHERITAGE.COM policy of spreading the culture worldwide on the net, we have accepted a few pictures donated by Ms. M. C. in 2012 which we are reproducing without paying any licence whatsoever. We insist once again on the issue that sculptures, mosaics, archeological pieces, etc. from the Roman era (and by that token, almost any antiques) may "belong" or "be under custody" of a particular institution, or Museum, but that does not give them the right to become the exclusive administrators of their images.
Back in 1994 I had the opportunity to visit the Parthenon in Athens for the first time in my life. When I was climbing to the Akropolis, I was asked to sign on a manifesto prepared by the Greek Socialist Government, asking for the devolution of the parthenon Marbles stayng in London, and now at the British Museum, since Lord Elgin took them a century ago. I kindly ask the young lady to wait for my return, and after visiting the Akropolis, I sat down with her for a long half an hour. I explained her that I fall in love with history in 1977 when as a teenager, I visited the British Museum for the first time, like many people before and after me. Even if the property should belong to the contemporary Greek Government or even the State, I did not see the point of "plunder Back" european or american Museums to reunite everything in a single place.
The Museums are places thought to spread the culture and to make it available to the general public. So is @ROMANHERITAGE.COM
Although we are including the hours and map, we suggest you would visit the British Museum web pages before visiting http://www.britishmuseum.org/visiting.aspx?ref=header
